I am a master’s student in the Biochemistry program at ASU. I was born and raised in California where easy access to the ocean granted me the knowledge of marine ecosystems and the inspiration to work with them. Corals are considered a foundational species that influence the health of many species in their ecosystems. I am interested in mitigating the effects of anthropogenic climate change on corals because of their importance to marine ecosystems.
The research I am interested in examines their cellular responses to the increasingly challenging conditions of their changing environment to find pathways for mitigation on a molecular level. After my master’s program, I plan to continue pursuing marine biochemistry research throughout PhD and postdoctoral opportunities.
In addition to beach trips, my childhood was filled with lots of adventure. I grew up trying any outdoor activity I could: hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, climbing, wakeboarding, and horseback riding among others. I still enjoy filling my free time with outdoor activities as an adult, now with the additions of travel and art as well.
