Dr. Ioan Fuller

I am a postdoctoral research scholar in the Roger lab. Hailing from New Zealand, I completed my PhD in chemistry at the University of Otago in 2024, with a focus on omega-3 phospholipid derivatives in shellfish that are culturally significant kaimoana (seafood) to local Māori communities.

I am particularly interested in using analytical chemistry to detect key biological compounds, with previous research including studies on the microbial composition of rumen, pro-oxidants in commercial krill oils, and plant chemotaxonomy. Working in the Marine Biochem Research lab is an exciting opportunity to learn and apply analytical techniques to detect reactive oxygen species involved in coral bleaching.

I’m also stoked to continue in the field of marine science while living in the desert!

Outside of the lab, I enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including cycling, running, swimming and climbing, as well as playing his trumpet.
